The Hiram College men’s soccer team tied Capital, 0-0, in a non-conference game at Bernlohr Stadium in Bexley.
Hiram (1-3-1) outshot Capital (2-0-2), 8-1, in the first half, but could not find the back of the net as the two teams remained deadlocked at 0-0 heading into the break.
In the second half, the Crusader offense racked up 12 shots to Hiram’s two shots over the course of the final 45 minutes that also included over an hour weather delay, but the Hiram defense and goaltending by sophomore Matt Sacher (Akron/Coventry) kept the game scoreless. As the result of the weather delay, the game was called due to darkness after regulation and the contest would end in a 0-0 tie.
In net for Hiram, Sacher played all 90 minutes and stopped all seven shots that the Crusaders got on net.
Hiram will travel to University Heights for a non-conference game against John Carroll University on Friday, Sept. 13. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
