HIRAM, OHIO  —  Senior All-North Coast Athletic Conference junior forward Ryan Minick (North Royalton) scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Hiram College men’s soccer team blanked The College of Wooster, 6-0, tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 26) in the regular-season home finale at Charles A. With the win, the Terriers improve to 9-5-1 overall and 4-4 in the NCAC.  The Fighting Scots fall to 5-9-1 overall and 1-7 NCAC.

Minick scored his first goal of the game at the 12:53 minute mark of the first half, with an assist from sophomore midfielder Andy Harding (Bath/Revere), to give the Terriers an early 1-0 lead.  Near the end of the period, Hiram struck again with a score from freshman midfielder Ryan Kramarz (Chesterland/West Geauga) that increased the lead to 2-0.  The two goals would be all the scoring in the first half as Hiram went into the locker rooms with a two-score advantage.

In the second half, the Terriers blew the game open scoring four goals, beginning with Minick’s second goal of the game during the 56th minute to make the score 3-0.  Junior defenseman Dan O’Callaghan (Aberdare, Wales, United Kingdom) and senior defenseman Tyler Launder (Whitehouse/Anthony Wayne) were credited with assists on the goal.  A few minutes later, Launder scored a goal of his own off of a free kick by junior All-NCAC midfielder Ryan Greenhill (Solon) at the 59:54 mark.  Greenhill tallied the team’s fifth goal of the game during the 69th minute to give Hiram a commanding 5-0 margin.  Minick was credited with the assist on the Greenhill goal.  Hiram recorded its final goal of the game at the 86:23 mark on a corner kick by freshman defenseman Joey Dennis (Canton/Jackson) that was headed into the Wooster goal by freshman midfielder Odane Gray (Kingston, Jamaica/Jamaica College) to complete the 6-0 shutout.

Junior goalkeeper Joe Rottinger (Strongsville) knotched his ninth win of the season (9-5-1 overall) and fourth shutout victory.  He played all 90 minutes not allowing any goals and had two saves.

Hiram will end the 2011 regular season on Saturday, Oct. 29 when the Terriers travel to Granville for a NCAC game against Denison University.  The game will be part of a soccer doubleheader with the Terrier women’s team.  The women will play against the Big Red at 1 p.m., followed by the men at 4 p.m.
