Hiram College men’s soccer player and senior All-Region midfielder Ryan Greenhill (Solon) has been named first-team Capital One Academic All-District VII as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). [Capital One Academic All-District Teams]
Greenhill has been named first-team All-District for the past three seasons and was tabbed second-team Academic All-American last year. Greenhill, who carries a 3.98 grade point average as a management/accounting major, will be eligible for the All-American ballot that will be voted on later this month.
Greenhill helped lead Hiram to a 15-3-1 overall record in 2012, including a 9-0 stretch to begin the season which was the best start in program history. The Terriers were one victory away from tying the program’s all-time mark for wins in a season and also qualified for the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament for the second straight season and fourth overall in program history.
Individually for the season, Greenhill was tied for the team-lead in assists with nine, in addition to scoring five goals for 19 total points. His 19 points was third most on the team. He had two game-winning goals and was a perfect three-for-three in penalty kicks. Greenhill finished the season with a .185 shot percentage with 27 shots taken, including 17 shots on goal.
In 72 career games, Greenhill ranks in the top-10 in program history in four statistical categories including ranking second all-time in assists with 29. He had scored nine goals to along with his 29 assists to end his career with 47 points. He is also one of the most decorated players in program history as a two-time NSCAA (National Soccer Coaches Association of America) All-Region, three-time All-NCAC and an All-Ohio award winner. In addition to his academic accomplishments as a multi-time Academic All-District winner, Greenhill is also an Academic All-Ohio award recipient.
