The Hiram College men’s soccer team was defeated by Denison University, 2-0, in a North Coast Athletic Conference game in Granville.
Following a scoreless first half, Denison (8-1-2, 1-1 NCAC) broke the scoreless tie at the 48:57 minute mark to take a 1-0 lead. The Big Red added an insurance goal during the 53rd minute to increase the margin to 2-0. Hiram (4-8-1, 1-2 NCAC) recorded five shots in the second half, but could not find the back of the net as Dension went on to the 2-0 shutout victory.
Hiram junior goalkeeper Chris Minite (Aurora) played all 90 minutes, but suffered the loss and is now 2-5 overall for the season. He allowed two goals and had one save.
Hiram will travel to Oberlin for a NCAC game against Oberlin College on Saturday, Oct. 12. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
