The Hiram College men’s soccer team defeated Principia (Ill.) College, 3-0, in a non-conference game and home opener at the Charles A. Henry Field.
With the win, the Terriers remained unbeaten this season with a 3-0 overall mark. The Panthers fall to 0-4 overall for the season.
Hiram recorded two goals in the first half, beginning with a score by senior forward Taylor Kiefer (North Canton/Hoover) at the 22:50 minute mark with an assist from senior All-Region forward Ryan Minick (North Royalton). Sophomore midfielder Andres Ruiz (Georgetown, Cayman Islands) tallied the Terriers’ second goal during the 40th minute to put Hiram up 2-0 at the intermission. Junior midfielder Andy Harding (Bath/Revere) was credited with an assist on the Ruiz goal.
The lead remained two goals for Hiram until late in the second period when sophomore midfielder Ryan Kramarz (Chesterland/West Geauga) found the back of the net at the 86:57 mark, with an assist from freshman midfielder Josh Allman (Harmony, Pa./Seneca Valley), to increase the lead to 3-0.
