The Hiram College men’s lacrosse team dropped a 15-1 decision at home to No. 17-ranked Denison on Tuesday evening.
The Terriers drop to 2-7 on the season and 0-4 in the NCAC, while the Big Red improve to 8-2 overall and remain perfect in conference play at 3-0.
Hiram’s lone score of the game came with 9:11 left, when junior Chris Lekan (North Olmsted/Holy Name) took a pass from junior Greg Summers (Lancaster, N.Y./St. Mary’s) and found the back of the net. The goal was the only one scored in the fourth quarter by either team.
Denison opened play with seven first quarter scores and added five more in the second to lead 12-0 at the break. The Big Red added three more goals in the third to open a 15-0 advantage.
In goal, junior Sawyer Lott (Sunbury/Big Walnut) tied his season-high with 16 saves. He also scooped up 10 ground balls in the contest.
Summers led Hiram with five shots, while junior Matt Pozderac (Mount Vernon/Centerburg) added four ground balls.
Hiram will play next on Saturday, when it travels to take on Wabash (Ind.) in a NCAC showdown that is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
