CHESTERLAND, OHIO — The Hiram College men’s golf team finished seventh of nine teams after the day of the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships today (Sunday, May 1) hosted by Hiram at Fowler’s Mill Golf Course in Chesterland. The Terriers also place seventh in the final NCAC Championship Series standings which combines the results from this weekend’s tournament as well as the results from last week’s tournament at The College of Wooster [FINAL Results]
The Terriers completed the final day with a team total of 498 strokes and ended the two-day event with a grand total of 987 strokes (489+325+332=987) to place seventh overall. Wittenberg University won the event with a tournament-total 893 strokes (447+293+292=893) and also placed first in the overall series standings to capture the 2011 NCAC Championship. Ohio Wesleyan University was second with 911 total strokes (458+303+294=911) and also finished second in the overall NCAC standings. Denison University rounded out the top three teams with a two-day total 927 strokes (465+304+302=927) and ended the year third in the Championship series.
Individually, junior Bryan Todd (Green) carded a 27-hole total of 123 strokes on the final day and ended the tounament with a total of 245 strokes (85+81+79=245) and placed in a tie for 29th overall. Junior Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) equaled Todd with a tournament total 245 strokes (79+82+84=245). Freshman Chad Casey (South Bend, Ind./John Adams) was third on the team with 252 strokes (82+85+85=252) and senior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) finished fourth with a tournament total 253 strokes (84+81+88=253). Freshman Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) rounded out the Hiram competitors with a 54-hole total of 259 strokes (93+82+84=259).
Hiram ends is 2010-11 season with the conclusion of today’s Hiram Invitational.
