The Hiram College men’s golf team finished seventh at the University of Mount Union Fall Invitational following the final round at Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance.
Hiram ended the final round with a team-total 358 strokes and finished the two-day event with 689 total strokes (331+358=689) to place seventh of seven teams. John Carroll University won the overall event with a two-day total 591 strokes (295+296=591). Host school Mount Union was second with 595 strokes (303+292=595) and the College of Mount St. Joseph rounded out the top three schools with 606 strokes (306+300-606).
Individually for Hiram, sophomore Danny Essel (Euclid) led the way with a event-total 163 strokes (78+85=163) and placed in a tie for 38th overall. Sophomore Richard Bacher (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) had the second lowest score for the Terriers of 166 strokes (82+84=166) and was followed by freshman James Workman(Garrettsville/Garfield) in third with 178 strokes (88+90=178). Rounding out the Hiram competitors was senior Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) with 182 strokes (83+99=182).
Hiram will wrap-up its fall schedule with the one-day Lourdes University Invitational on Sunday, Oct. 13. The 18-hole tournament is set to begin at 1 p.m. at Barrington Golf Club in Aurora.
