The Hiram College men’s golf team finished ninth following the conclusion of the final round of the annual Ted Barclay Invitational hosted by Denison University at Granville Golf Course in Granville.
Hiram ended the two-day event with an overall team total of 667 strokes (333+334=667) to place ninth of nine teams. Wittenberg University captured the team title with 590 strokes (295+295=590) and was followed by host school Denison with 603 strokes (301+302=603). Kenyon College rounded out the top-three teams with 611 strokes (304+307=611).
Sophomore Richard Bacher (West Lafayette, Ind./West Lafayette) led the Terriers with a final round 80 and posted an overall score of 159 strokes (79+80=159) to tie for 36th place overall individually. Junior Kyle Meggas (Lakewood) was second on the team with 168 strokes (82+86=168) and senior Ethan Tope (Dalton/Waynedale) was third at 171 strokes (87+84=171). Freshman James Workman (Garrettsville/Garfield) and sophomore Danny Essel (Euclid) were tied for fourth with both posting a tournament-total 174 strokes.
Hiram will next compete in the first of two North Coast Athletic Conference Championship Events beginning with the two-day DePauw (Ind.) University Invitational on Saturday-Sunday, Apr. 26-27 at Twin Bridges Golf Course in Danville, Ind.
