WOOSTER, OHIO — The Hiram College men’s golf team placed 13th after the final round of the annual Nye Invitational today (Saturday, Apr. 24) hosted by The College of Wooster at the Wooster Country Club in Wooster. [FINAL Results]
The Terriers posted a two-day combined score of 698 strokes (345+353=698) to place 13th overall. Malone University won the overall event with a team total of 590 strokes (291+299=590). Baldwin-Wallace College was second at 607 strokes (301+306=607) and John Carroll University rounded out the top three schools with 624 strokes (316+308=624).
Individually, junior Andy Deehr (Cortland/Champion) led Hiram with a two-day total 164 strokes (84+80=164) and placed in a tie for 40th. Sophomore Bob Ritchie (Strongsville/Brunswick) shot a pair of 85’s to finish second on the team with 170 strokes (85+85=170). Sophomore Bryan Todd (Green) was third at 172 strokes (83+89=172) and junior Jon Rice (Toledo/Sylvania Southview) was fourth with 192 strokes (93+99=192). Junior Michael Walton (Mineral Ridge) rounded out the Hiram scores with 214 strokes (104+110=214).
Hiram will wrap-up the 2009-10 season next Saturday-Sunday, May 1-2 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Kenyon College. The first round begins on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Apple Valley Golf Course in Gambier.
