GREENSBURG, PA.  —  The Hiram College men’s cross country team placed fourth of nine teams and the women were 10th of 12 teams at the annual University of Pittsburgh-Greensburg Invitational today (Saturday, Oct. 1) in Greensburg, Pa.  [Men’s Results] [Women’s Results]

The men finished the event with a team score of 105 points to place fourth overall.  Thiel (Pa.) College won the event with a team-total of 29 points.  Geneva (Pa.) College was second at 61 points and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) College rounded out the top three with 71 points.

Senior Joe Hengoed (Seven Hills/Normandy) paced Hiram with a time of 28:53.3 and finished eighth overall of 85 total runners.  Junior junior Brendan Curtin (Burton/Berkshire) had the second fastest time on the team at 30:30.1 and fellow junior Bryan Nemire (Berlin Heights/Edison) finished just behind in third with a mark of 30:30.5.  Sophomore Forest Reed (Seven Hills/Normandy) finished fourth fastest on the team in a time of 31:16.6 and was followed by senior Don Daley (Chagrin Falls/University School) who posted a time of 33:45.7.  Sophomore Anthony Franklin (Newbury) and sophomore Manpreet Grewal (Parman/Normandy) rounded out the scoring times for Hiram at 36:18.8 and 37:10.5 respectively.  Also competing for the Terriers was freshman Bryan Goldstein (Lyndhurst/Brush) who ran a time of 38:20.7 and freshman Jabez Patterson (Chicago, Ill./Noble Street Charter School) completed the course in a time of 47:06.1.

The Hiram women finished with a team-total of 261 points to finish 10th overall.  Geneva captured the women’s team title with 63 points and Thiel was second at 80 points.  Bethany (W.Va.) College rounded out the top three teams with 91 points.

Individually, senior Alexandra Oleszko (Seattle, Wash./Nathan Hale) had the top overall time for the Terriers of 30:22.0 and placed 44th overall out of 112 runners.  Junior Megan Orosz (Mentor/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) was second at 30:30.0 and sophomore Clarissa Claflin (Mayfield/Mayfield Heights) recorded the third quickest time for Hiram at 31:32.2  Junior Natalie Richardson (McConnelsville/Morgan) followed closely behind with a mark of 31:42.9 and freshman Sarah Dutton (Columbia, Md./Long Beach) completed the course in a time of 33:31.7.  Completing the scoring times for Hiram was freshman Patricia Bohls (Macedonia) and senior Christine Bieniosek (Litchfield) who ran times of 34:18.2 and 35:11.7 respectively.  In addition, freshman Ellen Rochford (Akron/St. Vincent-St. Mary) also competed for Hiram and turned in a time of 37:34.8.

The Hiram cross country teams will compete again on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the second College of Wooster Invitational in Wooster.  The first race is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m.
