The Center for Integrated Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Center at the Regional Economic Growth Corporation (REGC) of Portage County will present the workshop “Legal Basics for Business” from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.
The workshop will take place at the Burton D. Morgan Entrepreneurship Center’s East Hall Forum.
The following topics will be covered:
- Tax and Non-Tax Considerations When Choosing Your Business Type
- Technology and Intellectual Property Rights
- Financing a Business
- Product Development and Distribution
- Top 10 Mistakes Entrepreneurs Make and How to Avoid Them
Danielle Higgins, associate of Day Ketterer Law Firm in Canton, will lead the workshop. As a member of the firm’s Business and Non-Profit Practice Group, her practice focuses on business transactions, securities and business counseling. Her practice has a particular emphasis on entrepreneurial start-up enterprises in manufacturing, health care, financial services and non-profit and cultural organizations. Higgins is a graduate of Cornell University and a magna cum laude graduate of Case Western Reserve Law School with honors concentration in health law and business organizations.
