Senior Kelsey Koskinen (Madison) scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Hiram College women’s basketball team past Westminster (Pa.) 68-55 on Tuesday evening.
The Terriers improve to 2-3 on the season, while the Titans drop to 0-3.
Koskinen went 8-of-18 from the field. She also pulled down a career-high nine rebounds and recorded three steals.
Sophomore Kayla Yost (Norwalk/Perkins) added 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists.
A layup from senior Taylor Ratliff (Berea/Columbia) capped off a 6-0 Hiram run midway through the first half and gave them a 20-14 lead.
The Terriers would hold the lead for the rest of the half and take a 25-22 lead into halftime.
With the score tied at 32 apiece, the Terriers used a 7-0 run to retake the lead 39-32 with 11:50 left to play.
Hiram would hold the lead the rest of the game, never letting the Titans get closer than six points.
The Terriers finished the contest 24-of-61 (39.3 percent) from the field and 17-of-21 (81.0 percent) from the free throw line. Westminster was 21-of-57 (36.8 percent) in shooting and just 9-of-17 (52.9 percent) in free throws.
Hiram dominated the rebounding battle, pulling down 50, compared to 31 for Westminster. The Terriers also held a 20-9 advantage in second chance points.
Hiram will return to action on December 3, when it opens NCAC play with a home game against Allegheny (Pa.) at 6 p.m.
