Kate Bishop ’95 has written a comedic Christmas story called “A Peppermint Patty Christmas.” The play focuses on mature lesbian issues. Bishop, who has a Bachelor of Arts in Gender Studies from Hiram and a Masters in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University, has been writing plays about adult women who are comfortable with themselves and about their experiences. The Strand, a theater located in Baltimore, Maryland, commissioned Bishop to write this play in response to the overwhelming outcry by the community for more roles and portrayals of lesbians in theater. Besides being a playwright, Bishop is a social worker, sex educator and a lesbian activist. To learn more about her and her play, please visit this web site.
