Congratulations to students Ashley Nuzzi `08, and Brittany Stone `08, for their successful finishes in the East Central Colleges Student Literary Competition.
Ashley won the first place prize in the poetry catagory for her work “Saguaro,” while Brittany won second place in both the fiction and the creative nonfiction categories for her works “Tag Sale” and “A Few Words about Bubble Gum,” respectively.
Other Hiram writers earned honorable mentions, including Weekend College students Teri Lyn Bradshaw, for her creative nonfiction essay “Taking the Leap” and her fiction submission “A Soldier’s Mourning,” and Seth Rienwalt for his fiction story “Steady Work, Good Benefits.”
Traditional students who earned honorable mentions were Joanne Bennardo `08, for her creative nonfiction essay “The Voice of God;” Rachel Wilkinson`10, for her creative nonfiction essay “Resurrecting White Shoulder, The Quest for Sense;”and Adam Hardwick `08, for his creative nonfiction essay “Sand.”
East Central Colleges is a non-profit educational association providing a variety of services to promote the educational advancement and the administrative efficiency of eight independent liberal arts colleges in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
