Hiram College

On Thursday, November 28, the Office of Human Resources and the Hiram College Health Center worked together to present the college’s second Health Fair. This year, 31 vendors were in attendance to educate the Hiram community about various aspects of healthy living. Approximately 210 faculty, staff, and students visited the Health Fair between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and 50 faculty members received a free health screening. The activities also included drawings for prizes given by our generous donors:

-1 hour massage @ Hiram House Salon & Day Spa (donated by Hiram House Salon)

-$25.00 Barnes & Noble Gift Card (donated by Liberty Mutual)

-Bag of Apples (donated by Monroe’s Orchard)

-Water Bottle (donated by Hiram College Nursing Dept.)

-Spooktacular Basket (donated by Oswald Companies)

-30 minute Chair Massage (donated by Marianne Rieske)

-Hamilton Beach Blender (donated by Hiram College Health Center)

-30 minute consultation with Sitko Counseling (donated by Jaime Sitko)

-Water Bottle with candy (donated by RMH Rehab & Sports Clinic)

– 1 month of Aerobic Kickboxing class (donated by the Karate Institute of America)

– 5-week Women’s Self-Defense Course (donated by the Karate Institute of America)

-Stadium Pack (donated by Delta Dental)

-Trick-or-Treat Office Supply Pumpkin (donated by Northern Ohio Hemophilia Foundation)

– Health Station Body Composition Scale (donated by SummaCare)

– Gift Basket (donated by RHM Health Education Center)

-Relay for Life bag (donated by the American Cancer Society)

Other prizes included a yoga beginner kit, resistance cord kit, “Eat This, Not That ” book, pedometer with calorie counter, $15.00 Subway gift card,  exercise ball, $25.00 Giant Eagle gift card, 3 lb. ankle/wrist weights, and a Weight Watchers cookbook.

The Health Center plans to have a Health Fair every other year; the next one will be in 2012. However, there are other events scheduled to take place on campus in the near future.
