Less than a year after she earned her bachelor’s degree from Hiram’s Weekend College, Sandy Lisko added another top honor to her name.
During a special awards dinner last month, Lisko received the Service Excellence Club Award from Huntington Bank. The award recognizes bank associates who perform above and beyond the very high standards set for serving customers. The Service Excellence Club Award is the most prestigious non-sales award that the bank bestows. Frank Hierro, president of Huntington’s Mahoning Valley region, nominated Lisko for the honor.
Besides her seats on the boards of Trumbull Mobile Meals and the Trumbull Art Gallery, the Warren resident spent over 15 years in the local banking industry before being named assistant vice president and regional marketing specialist at Huntington. Lisko came to Huntington through the merger with SkyBank, so she was surprised to be honored by her new employer so quickly.
“I was so excited,” Lisko said of the award. “It was wonderful to be nominated for something I absolutely enjoy doing and strive to do well every day.”
Lisko graduated from Hiram College magna cum laude in 2007 with a major in business management. She earned her degree through the Weekend College, a program that made it possible for her to earn her bachelor’s degree by attending classes every other weekend. Lisko is one of over 1,800 graduates of the innovative weekend degree program.
Lisko attributed her ability to excel in her field to her training at Hiram. “The qualities were always there, and Hiram gave me the strength and the tools to grow in the business. The degree gives me the security to make it in a world of mergers,” she said. Plus, the program’s convenient format allows students like Lisko to continue to advance their careers and participate in community organizations while completing their degrees.
What’s next for Lisko? Only time will tell, but anyone who knows her also knows that higher honors are not long away.
