The Hiram College outdoor track and field teams competed at the Kenyon Invitational today (Saturday, Apr. 19) in Gambier. The Terrier women placed ninth of 10 teams while the men finished 10th of 10 teams. [Complete Results]
The Hiram women scored 10 points to place ninth while Otterbein College captured the overall team title with 141 points. Oberlin College was second with 123.50 points and Ohio Northern University was third with 120 points.
Sophomore Nadrienna Damaris (Detroit, Mich./Renaissance) turned in the top individual performance for the Terrier women with a fourth place finish in the long jump with a leap of 16′ 3.25″. Senior All-NCAC hurdler Lynne Hutchison (Solon) placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles posting a time of 17.48 seconds. Rounding out the Hiram scoring was a fifth place finish in the 4×100-meter relay. Hutchison, sophomore Tiffani Martin (Loudonville), Deandra Gant and Damaris combined efforts to cross the finish line with a time of 53.74 seconds. Also recording a top-ten finish was freshman Devan Stief (Galion) in the pole vault with a heighth of 8′ 0.00″ which put her in a tie for tenth overall.
The men tallied one point to finish 10th while Ohio Northern won the meet with 189 points. Ohio Wesleyan University was second with 98 points and John Carroll University was third with 85 points.
Sophomore Stefhen Offutt (Twinsburg) was the lone competitor and point scorer for the Terrier men with an eighth place finish in the long jump recording a distance of 19′ 1.50″. He also placed 12th in the 100-meter dash posting a time of 11.75 seconds.
The Hiram outdoor track and field teams continue the season on Friday, Apr. 25 when it travels to Oberlin for the Oberlin College Invitational. The first event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
