Hiram College

The ensemble Heartbeat Afrika will present a concert on Thursday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Frohring Recital Hall on the Hiram College campus. Heartbeat Afrika demonstrates how African drums influence music today with diverse styles like Brazilian samba, call and response, and hip-hop drumming and stepping. The group is directed by Olu Manns, a Kent State University graduate who also directs Hiram’s student African ensemble.

The event, free and open to the public, is sponsored by Hiram Community Trust with support from the Hiram College music department. For more information, contact the music department at 330-569-5294.
