The upcoming holiday season is a time for family, friends and food. The Juila Church Health Center is continuing its yearlong Healthy Hiram campaign on Nov. 13, 2013, with two food/cooking related events, in anticipation of the holiday season.
Rate Your Plate: From 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., University Hospitals Dietician Jane Valvoda will be in the Dining Hall providing nutrition advice. Students will have the opportunity to bring up their lunch plate, and she will offer advice on how to create a balanced meal.
Healthy Cooking Demo: From 7-9 p.m. in the Kennedy Center Ballroom, University Hospitals Chef Greg McClain will give a cooking demonstration focused on healthy techniques.
This event is part of the Healthy Campus 2020 initiative, spearheaded by the American College Health Association.
“We want to educate the students of Hiram College to make better lifestyle choices that will affect them not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well,” said Marjorie Billock, registered nurse at the Health Center.
