Sophomore Allie Glatt (Cincinnati/Salem) scored two goals but the Hiram College women’s soccer team suffered its first defeat of the season by a 4-2 score to Augustana (Ill.) on Friday evening on the campus of Carthage (Wis.)
The Terriers now stand at 1-1-0 on the season, while the Vikings remain perfect at 2-0-0.
Augustana scored three times in the first half to jump out to a 3-0 lead at the break.
HC came back with Glatt blasting a free kick into the back of the net at the 53:41 mark for her first goal of the night.
Just minutes later, Glatt took a pass from sophomore Katelyn Mauch (Parma/Normady) and beat the keeper to cut the deficit to 3-2.
But the Vikings answered in the 64th minute with another goal to push their lead to 4-2.
Junior goalkeeper Kailie Reed (Wadsworth) made three stops in goal and suffers her first loss of the season.
Augustana held a 14-10 edge in shots in the match, while Hiram took two corner kicks to the Vikings’ one.
Hiram will be in action again on Sunday, when it takes on Carthage at 1 p.m. EST.
