HIRAM, OHIO   —  The Hiram College football team was defeated by Case, 41-0, today (Saturday, Oct. 16) in a non-conference game at the Charles A. Henry Field.  [Game Stats]

With the loss, the Terriers drop to 1-6 overall and the Spartans remain undefeated at 6-0 overall this season.

Case took control of the game with three scores in the first quarter beginning with a 12-yard touchdown pass play from quarterback Joey Baum to Brian Webster at the 8:46 minute mark to take a 7-0 lead.  The Spartans also found the endzone on a two-yard TD run by Christian Anderson and an eight-yard TD pass to Zach Homyk to lead 21-0 after the first quarter.

The Spartans added to their lead with two more scores in the second quarter resulting in five straight possessions that ended in a TD for Case.  Spartan backup quarterback Kyle Snyder would score on a run from five yards out at the 10:21 mark and wide receiver Bryan Metlesitz caught a 17-yard TD pass from Baum, his third TD pass of the game, with 3:44 left in the period, but the extra point was blocked as Case had a commanding 34-0 lead at the break.

Both teams were held scoreless in the third quarter and Case found the endzone a final time at the 13:36 mark of the fourth quarter with a 60-yard TD scamper by Kenny Riordan as the Spartans went on to the 41-0 final.

Case was led offensively by Baum, who completed 15-of-26 passes for 199 yards and three TD.  Riordan led all rushers with 74 yards in 10 carries and a TD.  Snyder added 71 yards in 17 carries and also scored a TD.  Homyk posted a game-high five catches for 56 yards and a TD.  Shaun Nicely caught four passes for a game-high 63 yards.  Defensively, Dale English and Wade Self both recorded a team-best five tackles.  English also added a sack and had an interception.

Hiram was led by sophomore quarterback Brendan Rehor (Bay Village/Bay) who completed 10-of-20 passes for 58 yards and had one interception.  Backup Maxwell Bohon (Worthingon/Thomas Worthington) completed eight-of-15 passes for 54 yards.  Junior running back Brandon Jacobs (St. Petersburg, Fla./Seminole) led the Terrier rushers with 42 yards in 14 carries.  Senior All-North Coast Athletic Conference wideout Glenn Campbell (Akron/Buchtel) ended the game with four receptions for 25 yards.  On defense, three Hiram players posted double-digit tackles led by junior two-time All-NCAC linebacker Jon Hull (Buford, Ga./Mill Creek) with a game-high 12 tackles and had a tackle for loss.  Junior linebacker Oliver Dickerhoof (Alliance/Central Catholic) was second with 11 stops and junior defensive end Jarrod Lewis (Petersburg/Springfield Local) added 10 tackles to go along with a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.

Hiram will be off next week, but will resume its NCAC schedule on Saturday, Oct. 30 against The College of Wooster in Wooster.  The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
