Fields and Daniels helped lead the Terrier swim teams to victories against Bethany (W.Va.) College in the only dual meet this past week. The Hiram men defeated Bethany, 103-78, and the women won, 115-95.
Fields paced the Hiram men competing in every swim event and was officially credited with winning two events in the 50-meter and 100-meter backstroke with top marks of 33.98 seconds and 1:15.58. He was also part of a winning relay team in the 200-meter medley relay posting a time of 2:10.34. Fields went on to post fastest times in the 800-meter freestyle (9:55.85) and the 200-meter free (2:27.15), and was second in the 100-meter butterfly (1:16.68), 100-meter breaststroke (1:29.41), 100-meter individual medley (1:11.23), 400-meter free (4:44.64) and 100-meter free (1:15.36).
Daniels touched the wall first in two events against the Bison with winning times in both the 100-meter and 200-meter free of 1:05.25 and 2:21.37. She also competed in the 50-meter fly and finished third overall with a mark of 35.61 seconds. In addition, Daniels was a member of the winning 200-meter free relay team that posted a time of 2:05.33.
Hiram will be idle until January 11 when the Terriers host Malone University in a non-conference dual meet at Alumni Memorial Pool. The first event is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
