This year’s Annual Ethics Theme is Disability and Ability. Hiram College will recognize Disability Awareness Week, Oct. 7-11, 2013, with a special week of programming:
Tuesday, Oct. 8: Step Out of Your Comfort Zone, 8 p.m., East Hall
Students can try out a variety of activities to get a better understanding of disabilities. Pizza, fresh apples and baked goods will be provided.
Wednesday, Oct. 9: ‘It’s What You Say, Not How You Say It,’ 7 p.m., East Hall Forum
Nobby Lewandowski will speak about his determination to never let his speech challenge be an impediment to success, in the Center for Integrated Entrepreneurship’s weekly Fireside Chat. Learn more.
Thursday, Oct. 10: Double Feature Movie Night, 8:30 p.m., Fenton Lounge
Temple Grandin will be shown. The 2010 film depicts an autistic woman who has become one of the top scientists in the humane livestock handling industry.
Also throughout the week, check out the Disability Awareness crossword puzzle in the Quad and the disability awareness facts on display in East Hall. Temple Grandin will be shown on ResLife Cinema all month.
