The Hiram College cross country teams competed at the annual Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College in Oberlin. The Terrier women finished 34th and the men competed as individuals. [Women’s Results] [Men’s Results]
The women finished the event with 1,100 points to place 34th of 34 teams. New York University captured the team title with 72 points, followed by SUNY-Geneseo (N.Y.) in second with 118 points. Carleton University rounded out the top three teams with 121 points.
Individually for Hiram, the Terriers were led by senior Clarissa Claflin (Mayfield/Mayfield Heights) who ran a time of 28:47.2 and placed 267th overall of 284 total runners. Junior Abigail Staysa (Columbia, Mo./Rockbridge) was second Hiram runner to complete the 6k course posting a time of 29:54.0. Junior Patricia Bohls (Macedonia) had the third fastest time at 30:01.4 and fellow junior Sarah Dutton (Columbia, Mo./Columbia) was fourth with a mark of 32:32.1. Rounding out the Hiram competitors was junior Nan Hu (Leshan, China/Leshan Foreign Language) with a time of 33:45.7.
The men competed as individuals and did not qualify in the overall team standings. NYU completed the sweep by winning the men’s event with a team total of 55 points. SUNY-Geneseo (N.Y.) was second with 93 points and Allegheny (Pa.) College was third at 106 points.
Posting the top overall time for Hiram was senior Tomoyuki Fujimoto (Mino, Japan) who ran a time of 30:11.3 and placed 249th overall of 283 runners. Freshman Anthony Kerrigan (Brooklyn, N.Y./Millenium) was second to complete the course with a mark of 31:46.2. Senior Dennis Kirimi (Nairobi, Kenya) had the third fastest time of 32:19.2 and senior Anthony Franklin (Newbury) completed the list of Hiram competitors with a time of 36:18.7.
Hiram will next compete on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Allegheny in Meadville, Pa. The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
