OBERLIN, OHIO  —  The Hiram College cross country teams competed at the NCAA Division III Regional Meet today (Saturday, Nov. 12) hosted by Oberlin College in Oberlin.  [Men’s Results] [Women’s Results]

The Terrier men finished the event with a team total of 927 points to place 31st of 35 teams.  Calvin (Mich.) College won the team regional title with 38 points and was followed by Wabash (Ind.) College in second with 100 points.  Manchester (Ind.) College rounded out the top three schools with 197 points.

Individually for Hiram, senior Joe Hengoed (Seven Hills/Normandy) led the way with the top overall individual time of 27:19.40 and placed 109th overall of 243 runners.  Junior Bryan Nemire (Berlin Heights/Edison) was second with a time of 28:48.01 and was followed by fellow junior Brendan Curtin (Burton/Berkshire) in third in a time of 29:46.79.  Junior Dennis Kirimi (Nayiobi, Kenya) had the third best time for the Terriers at 30:33.23 and sophomore Forrest Reed (Seven Hills/Normandy) was fourth to cross the finish line with a time of 31:08.90.  Senior Don Daley (Chagrin Falls/University School) came in fifth with a mark of 32:17.96.  Rounding out the men’s competitors was sophomore Anthony Franklin (Newbury) who completed the course in a time of 32:40.35.

The women finished the event with a team total of 1,172 points to place 36th of 36 teams.  Calvin captured the team regional title with 69 points.  Ohio Northern University was second with 96 points and Hope (Mich.) College was third at 99 points.

The women were led by junior Megan Orosz (Mentor/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) who posted the top overall time for the Terriers of 27:59.60 and placed 230th overall of 251 runners.   Sophomore Clarissa Claflin (Mayfield/Mayfield Heights) was second at 28:35.04 and was followed by junior Alexandra Oleszko (Seattle, Wash./Nathan Hale) in third with a mark of 29:33.65.  Junior Natalie Richardson (McConnelsville/Morgan) crossed the finish line in a time of 30:09.34 to finish fourth on the team.  Junior Amy Morton (Tacoma, Wash./St. Anthony Village, Minn.) posted a time of 30:46.21 and senior Christine Bieniosek (Litchfield)  rounded out the competitors for the women with a time of 32:45.64.

The Hiram cross country teams conclude the 2011 season with the completion of the NCAA Regional Meet.
