Carrie Elvey, a naturalist at the Wilderness Center in Wilmot, Ohio, was voted as Teacher of the Year by the Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalist Program (OCVN) in recognition of her outstanding training instruction. She has been teaching OCVN classes since 2007, and an instructor at each OCVN state conference to date.

Elvey has been a coordinator and a facilitator of Holmes County OCVN classes, and was instrumental in organizing the 2009 OCVN conference at the Wilderness Center. She drove the directio of the alumni chapter with an emphasis on nature presentations, and she continues to help OCVN graduates fulfill volunteer activities by creating and finding niches where they might contribute to public volunteerism.
