Several student clubs and organizations have come together to organize a Bingo event to benefit the people and businesses affected by the Garrettsville fire, which occurred March 22, 2014.
From 8-10 p.m. on May 6, 2014, Hiram College students invite the community to join them for “Shopping Bingo” in Dix Dining Hall of the Kennedy Center. Prizes will include common grocery items (cases of water and pop, canned goods, paper towels, etc.), and all participants will be entered into a raffle for several prize baskets.
Attendees can purchase up to six bingo cards for $1 each, and all proceeds will benefit the Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce’s efforts to rebuild the block destroyed by the fire.
Student Senate President Emily Lewis ’17 spearheaded the effort immediately after hearing news of the tragedy.
“Garrettsville and Hiram are really connected,” she said. “When we need something, that’s where we go. It’s our town, so it makes sense for us to help them in their time of need.”
The following student organizations from across campus donated portions of their funds to make the event possible: Student Senate, AIBS, Chemistry Club, Circle K, Delta Chi Lambda, Education Club, Habitat for Humanity, PRYSM, Students for Liberty, Trading Card Club, The Net and Veticus.
This event is open to the public.
