Hiram College baseball player and junior outfielder Jaren Bell (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) has been named this week’s North Coast Athletic Conference player of the week.
Bell helped the Terriers post a perfect 3-0 record this past week with three victories against non-conference opponents that included a doubleheader sweep of D’Youville (N.Y.) College and a single nine-inning game victory against Medaille (N.Y.) College.
For the week, Bell batted an impressive .714 at the plate (10-of-14) with one homerun, seven runs scored and four runs batted in. He was also one-of-two in stolen bases and had a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage with four putouts. In the doubleheader against D’Youville on Thursday (Apr. 17) alone, Bell posted back-to-back games where he recorded three hits in four attempts in addition to scoring three runs and a RBI in each game.
For the season, Bell is hitting a team-best .449 (35-of-78) and leads the team in runs scored with 23 and in stolen bases with eight. He is second in homeruns (two) and is tied for second in RBI (13). In addition, Bell has tallied two doubles and is second in walks with nine.
Hiram is scheduled to host Thiel (Pa.) College in a non-conference single nine-inning game today (Tuesday, Apr. 22) at Robert O. Fishel Field. Gametime is scheduled for 3 p.m.
