The Hiram College baseball team collected 10 hits, but could not turn any of them into runs in a 6-0 loss to Gettysburg (Pa.) on Tuesday at the Gene Cusic Classic in Fort Myers, Flordia.
The Terriers are now 2-3 on the season, while the Bullets are 4-1.
Gettysburg scored two times each in the first and second inning to jump out to a 4-0 lead. The Bullets added a run in the fourth and seventh to close out the scoring.
Freshman Jake Evanoff (Salem/West Branch) went 4.2 innnings, giving up three earned runs and striking out two.
Senior Tanner Gilchrist (Ellwood City, Pa./Lincoln) pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, while sophomoreAlex Kania (Newbury) fired a scoreless inning. Freshman Tyler Carcioppolo (Seven Hill/Normady) surrendered a unearned run in one inning of work.
The Terriers made six errors in the game.
Hiram will have Wednesday off before playing two games on Thursday. The Terriers will take on Monmouth (Ill.) at 10 a.m. and North Park (Ill.) at noon.
