On September 3, 2008 at 4:15 p.m. in the Bonney Castle Seminar Room, the Lindsay-Crane Center for Writing and Literature presents a reception for the Hiram Poetry Review.
In the spring of 2007, Robert Sawyer organized his final Bissell Symposium around the figure of writer Hart Crane. One of the most neglected poets of modern America, yet one of the finest, Crane was born in nearby Garrettsville. Professor Sawyer invited distinguished scholars and followers of Crane to Hiram College for a memorable three-day event. Along with the fine poems in Issue 69, Associate Professor of English and HPR Editor Willard Greenwood has included the text of lectures delivered by the symposium’s speakers.
English faculty will talk about Hart Crane and the special issue, and Professor Sawyer will provide a retrospective glance. Copies of HPR will be available for purchase.
