Bookstore


The Hiram College Bookstore, located in the Kennedy Center, carries course materials as well as office and school supplies, software, clothing, gifts, general books, compact discs, cards, candy, and health and beauty aids. The bookstore accepts cash, checks, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and Discover, as well as the Hiram Express Card.

Career Center


The development of career goals and the implementation of a plan that will ensure success in the intended field is a crucial part of the college experience. The Hiram College Career Center works with students throughout their time at Hiram College. The Career Center helps with decisions about majors, jobs, internships, and graduate schools. With resources ranging from computer programs to an alumni career network, the Career Center is a valuable tool for every student, even if he/she has already chosen a major or career. The Center has extended hours to accommodate our adult students.

Computing Technology


Students at Hiram have ample access to the College’s computing services, including network access, network terminals, unlimited use of campus printers, and on-site technical support for PC and Macintosh platforms.

Hiram maintains a state-of-the-art computing infrastructure with excess capacity to support future growth. Hiram’s network infrastructure combines wireless with fiber optic cable. The College houses an on-campus computer services department that provides all the technical support for Hiram’s data center, servers, network, campus computer labs, and desktop systems.

On-campus computing resources include:

  • Laser printers located in every residence hall, computer lab, the library, administrative office, and academic department.
  • Wireless network access on the Hiram campus and at the College’s field station.
  • General access computer labs for student, faculty, and staff use.

Dining Services


Hiram College Dining Services provides food service operations in the KC Café, located on the lower level of the Kennedy Center. The Café offers a variety of foods, including pizza and grill foods, a gourmet coffee shop, and a convenience store. Dining Services also brings fresh salads and sandwiches to Hinsdale Hall on Weekend College weekends. Vending machines are accessible throughout the campus for your convenience as well.

Housing


Housing is provided as an optional service for Weekend College students. Students may stay in rooms in Gray-Bancroft Residence Hall, the Mahan Guest House, or the Hiram Inn on weekends classes are in session on a space available basis. The Weekend College office assists students with questions or concerns about the facilities.

The Hiram College Library


The Hiram College Library is open seven days a week during the academic year. It offers a variety of study spaces, including group study rooms, individual carrels, and comfortable lounge seating for students looking for a quiet and pleasant place to study. The Media Center, on the lower level of the library, houses a collection of curriculum materials, videos, musical scores, CDs, and audio-visual equipment. The library subscribes to approximately 800 periodicals and is also a U.S. Government Depository, receiving approximately 7,000 federal documents annually. A staff of professional librarians is available to assist all students with anything from a simple informational question to scholarly research projects.

Hiram College is a member of the Ohio Library and Information Network (OhioLINK). OhioLINK is a consortium of Ohio’s college and university libraries and the State Library of Ohio. OhioLINK’s membership includes 17 public universities, 23 community/technical colleges, 44 private colleges and the State Library of Ohio. OhioLINK serves faculty, students, staff and other researchers via campus-based electronic library systems, the OhioLINK central site, and Internet resources.

The OhioLINK library catalog provides access to 45.3 million library items across the State of Ohio. Hiram College users, with a valid library barcode, can request books online and have the books sent to the Hiram College Library. Books may be borrowed for three weeks, with one three-week renewal if the item is not needed at the lending library.

Parking


Generous parking is available to commuter students along the tree-lined streets of Hiram. Visitor parking lots are also available on campus.

Sports, Recreation & Fitness


The Hiram College Sports Complex is the home for intercollegiate, intramural, club and recreational sports, and exercise. The Complex consists of outdoor competition venues and the Coleman Sports Center, which houses indoor competititon venues.

The Coleman Sports Center includes a competition gymnasium, two separate fieldhouses, a fitness center, weight room, racquetball courts, a pool, and indoor track. The outdoor competition venues include varsity football, baseball, soccer, and softball fields, a practice field, a tennis complex, and the Sugar Bush Golf Club.

Study Abroad


The College offers Hiram students distinct off-campus study programs that couple the extensive knowledge of Hiram faculty with the rich learning opportunities that are available only through first-person experiences.

Many U.S. colleges coordinate their off-campus study through programs offered by larger universities. At Hiram, students travel alongside their professors to destinations on six continents. By designing their own travel itineraries, Hiram faculty members have the independence to address specific scholastic issues that they then can explore more extensively through visits to cultural, historic, and educational sites.

Students in the Weekend College program occasionally take advantage of study abroad opportunities offered during the summer.

Writing Center


The Hiram College Writing Center exists to support the school's comprehensive commitment to writing. The Writing Center offers information, services, and programs for all students. Its goals are to enhance writing proficiency and foster permanent affection and respect for language. Available services include: informal sessions with professional writers, preparation for writing contests, admission exams to law and medical schools, graduate school essays, and sponsorship of writing contests and literary festivals. Peer tutors are scheduled on a regular basis (including evening and weekend hours to work with students).
