Religious Studies

The study of religion within the spirit of objective inquiry is an excellent way of gaining access to different cultures and their quest for meaning. The academic study of religion at Hiram College is undertaken in an open and objective style, free from any sectarian point of view. Hiram faculty and students find a rich “laboratory” of diverse religious communities in rural and urban Northeastern Ohio. Students benefit from direct contact with various groups such as the Mennonites and Amish, Moslems ,American Indians, Appalachian mountain churches, as well as with the more familiar churches in the major religious traditions.

A major in religious studies is well-suited for those considering professional careers in social service, law, public employment, teaching, or in religious and community organizations.
