Why Hiram?
Videos: In Their Own Words
Students share their reasons why Hiram is a great place to live and learn.
The Les and Kathy Coleman Recreation, Sports, and Fitness Center
The Les and Kathy Coleman Recreation, Sports, and Fitness Center has opened. The Coleman Center provides Hiram students with opportunities for fun and wellness often available only at much larger campuses. The Coleman Center contains state-of-the-art exercise equipment and free-weights, an aerobics studio, indoor elevated running track, athletic training facilities, as well as an expansive indoor fieldhouse. Hiram students have access to the Coleman Center with no additional fees. Check out a virtual tour of the Coleman Center . Hiram Plan
The Hiram Plan is Hiram's innovative academic calendar. Academic semesters at Hiram are divided into two sessions: a 12-week, during which students take three academic courses, and a 3-week, when students focus on a single course of study. This format blends long-term learning with intensive research and study and creates opportunities for internships and experiential learning. Hiram students are thereby prepared for success in the professional workforce and graduate school.
Hands-on Learning
Founded in 1850, Hiram College offers students a distinctive liberal arts education with unmatched opportunities to participate in advanced research and learning projects. Classes at Hiram are small, averaging under 16 students per class, allowing students to interact closely with professors and peers. Whether your focus is in the arts, the sciences, or both, research work with faculty is a hallmark of a Hiram education.
Off-Campus & Overseas Study
Hiram offers one of the most extensive off-campus and overseas study programs in the nation. Because of the academic calendar, students have more opportunity to study abroad while fulfilling their academic course requirements. Hiram students travel to locations on six continents, often during the 3-week session, and study alongside their professors and peers.
