New International Student Orientation
FALL 2010 Schedule of Events coming soon.....
The International Student Orientation is designed to acclimate you to the campus, take care of many practical matters, and to give you the opportunity to make new friends. Residence Halls and room numbers will be assigned prior to orientation so students will be permitted to move directly into their rooms.
Family members and relatives accompanying the student will find wonderful accomodations in Hiram and/or in the surrounding area. Transportation may be arranged from the airport to the campus on Arrival Day, however transportation between Hiram College and local accomodations will be the responsibility of the student and/or family.
When the New International Student Orientation is over, the Hiram College Institute Week will begin. All new students will participate in Institute Week. This is a great time to meet many faculty members, staff, other new students, get acquainted with the campus, and make many new friends.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is transportation provided from the airport to the Hiram College campus?
Yes. The Office of International Student Services provides a free shuttle service from the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on the specified arrival day, Friday, August 20th, 2010 for new students and their families. If you choose to use this service, you must send us the complete travel itinerary and the names of all travelers accompanying you. Please send us your arrival information as soon as your travel plans are finalized. Alternatte transportation may be arranged with a local shuttle service for a fee, if not arriving on August 20th. Please note: Hiram College is unable to provide any additional transportation services to or from Hiram due to campus orientation and events, therefore we ask that family/relatives arrange and pay for additional travel and return transportation to the airport.
What is included in the Residence Hall room?
Your residence hall room includes a bed, mattress, desk, chair, bureau, closet, phone, individual computer port, and mirror. Please note: Linens are not included. Please plan ahead and pack a set of extra long twin size linens for your first few nights or pre-order a bedding bundle from the Office for International Student Services. Our office will hold boxes until you arrive, contact the International Student Advisor prior to shipping and allow 5-7 weeks for shipping internationally.
