Mailings, Checklist, and Forms 

Students who are admitted to Hiram College will receive information from International Admissions. Listed below are the mailings you should expect to receive from us.

"Information to Know Before Coming to Campus"

This packet of materials will be mailed to all newly admitted students. In it, you will find information on the climate and weather of Northeast Ohio, American culture, money matters, suggested items to bring, health immunizaions and required forms, tips for traveling to the U.S., arrival at Hiram, driving information, and cities and exciting destinations near Cleveland, Ohio.

"HC International"

This manual is mailed to newly admitted students who have paid their non-refundable enrollment deposit. This manual is designed to assist U.S. citizens and non-immigrant students from abroad with living and studying at Hiram College. For our non-immigrant students, it also explains the legal requirements and responsibilities mandated by the United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS).

We provide all students with important information and updates and respond to all questions/requests via the fastest possible method. Therefore, please do not hestitate to contact us via email at interal@hiram.edu with any questions regarding immigration matters, U.S. visas, financial documentation, immunization requirements, orientation, Hiram College residence halls, transportation, money, etc.

Enrollment Checklist

  1. Receive Acceptance packet, including the folder "Information to Know Before Coming to Campus"
  2. Send non-refundable $200 enrollment deposit with your Notification of Acceptance Form, complete International Student Profile, Housing Contract, and a clear photocopy of the biographical page of your passport, including the expiration date
  3. Non-immigrants: Send final certified true and/or notorized financial documentation with the Certificate of Finances and the * Affidavit of Sponsorship (*if necessary)
  4. Non-immigrants: Receive a SEVIS Form I-20
  5. Receive international student handbook entitled "HC International"
  6. Non-immigrants: Pay the I-901 SEVIS fee of $100, instructions may be found at www.FMJfee.com
  7. Non-immigrants: Make an interview appointment with the U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
  8. Correspond with the Associate Dean of Students regarding course registration (via email).
  9. Upon graduation, send official final transcripts
  10. Check all immunizations required by the United States prior to arrival; make appointment with your physician to complete and return your Health Forms (4 pages): Hiram College - History and Physical Exam/Immunization Record. You may fax a clear photocopy and keep the original forms until your arrival into the United States. We do ask that you submit the original copy to the Hiram College Health Center immediately upon arrival.
  11. Non-immigrants: If you do not want to participate in the Hiram College International Student Health Insurance Plan and have comparable health insurance, fax a copy of your alternative Health Insurance plan translated into English and the Health Insurance Waiver form
  12. Complete and return the Friendly Family Application (*optional)
  13. Pack and ship boxes prior to arrival (*optional)
  14. Finalize travel arrangements
  15. Complete and submit your Arrival Form for arranging transportation to Hiram College
  16. Receive room and roommate assignment.  After receiving name and address of future roommate, make contact with him or her.
  17. Work with the International Student Advisor on changes or last minute questions
