Application Process for International Students
When to Apply
Apply online before February 1 and the application fee will be waived. Applications received after the deadline are processed on a space-available basis.
International First-Year Students

Application for Admission
Application Form
A student who has completed secondary or higher secondary education must apply as a first year student. An applicant who has been enrolled in any post-secondary/university studies must apply as a transfer student.

- If you are unable to apply online or print the application and required forms, please use the Information Request link and specify that you need a paper application. We will send an application packet by post.
First Year (Freshman) Candidate
- 2008–2009 First year common application
- Application fee of U.S. $35 (waived with online application)
- Personal essay (minimum 250 words)
- 2008–2009 secondary school report
- 2008–2009 international supplement to the secondary school report (This form should only be completed only by secondary schools using non-U.S. education systems. International schools using an AP curriculum need not complete the form.)
- Secondary school transcript and lower secondary and senior secondary examination results.
- 2008–2009 home school supplement (Complete only if you are home schooled.)
- English language proficiency: Students whose primary language is not English must document proficiency by one of the following or other recognized test of language proficiency:
- TOEFL Score - PBT: 550, CBT: 213, or iBT: 80
- IELTS - Band score: 6.5
- SATI - Critical Reading subscore: 500
- ACT - English subscore: 21
- A-Level English – Grade: B
- SAT I or ACT score report
- ESL applicant with TOEFL score less than 550 is exempt
- Student residing in a country where tests are not administered is exempt
- Two teacher evaluations - Select faculty who have taught you in an academic subject during the final two years of your education.
Transfer Candidate

Academic Documents
All academic documents must be original or certified true copies with seal and signature of school official or Ministry of Education issuing the document.
Examination score reports must be sent to the Office of Admission directly from the agency or testing company issuing the results. You may arrange to have SAT I, TOEFL, and ACT results sent to Hiram by including Hiram's institutional code number in the appropriate space when you register for the test:

International Application Instructions to assist you with the admission process may be downloaded in an Adobe Acrobat (PDF) version. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print all instructions and forms.
Post Acceptance Forms
Following notification of admission, a student may be asked to submit one or more of the following forms:
- International student profile
- Certification of finances
- Affidavit of sponsorship
- Verification of Immigration Status (students already in U.S. with F-1 or J-1 visa only)
