MAIS
Hiram College offers a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (MAIS). This is a two to three year graduate degree program whereby students take classes on alternate Saturdays during the academic year and on Saturdays and weekday evenings during the summer.
The MAIS is an innovative and flexible graduate program for students who desire an academically challenging master's program. Taught by Hiram faculty, the program builds upon Hiram's respected liberal arts curriculum. Many courses will be team-taught across disciplines. Students will read, discuss, and research topics of contemporary global concern from the standpoint of more than one academic field.
Graduates leave the program prepared to apply their critical thinking skills and broader understanding of the world in a multitude of environments. Some graduates of the program may continue in their current career with a broader base of knowledge, thereby identifying new challenges and taking on additional responsibilities at their present workplace. Others may wish to pursue a new career in which they can utilize the intellectual confidence, enhanced analytical skills, and greater writing proficiency they will develop through this program. The program also provides a broad, balanced education to serve students wishing to pursue the Ph.D.
