Programs of Study
During the summer session of 2004 Hiram College introduced a new educational initiative -- The Office of Graduate Studies. The office is responsible for the degree seeking program, the Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, and special topics courses offered for graduate credit as well as seminars and workshops for noncredit.
The Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies is a flexible, interdisciplinary graduate program, which will expose students to a world beyond themselves. Hiram's philosophical belief is that the ability to examine issues from multiple perspectives equips an individual with the knowledge, critical thinking abilities, analytical tools, communication skills, and aesthetic sensibilities to address the complex, multi-faceted questions that do not lend themselves to straightforward solutions.
Although the Office of Graduate Studies will attract many students interested in seeking a degree, we also understand the value of continuing education at the graduate level. To this end, the graduate studies program at Hiram will include graduate level courses for credit and for noncredit for professional educators.
