Community College of Allegheny County

Application Procedures

We strongly advise that you complete the application process at least one month prior to the beginning of the semester. Required materials include:

  • A completed application form and a non-refundable $35 application fee
  • One (1) copy of an official high school transcript
  • Two (2) copies of official transcripts from any college or university previously attended
  • A completed transfer status waiver from the most recent college or university attended (if applicable)
  • A personal interview with an admission counselor at Hiram College (if applicable)

Hiram College offers two distinct formats for learning. In the traditional program, classes are held during the day and most students reside on campus. The Weekend College program offers classes on alternating weekends, ideally suited for adults with work or family obligations. Applicants are asked to indicate their program preference on the application for admission.

All offers of admission are conditional upon satisfying any conditions specified at the time of admission. Students may apply for admission by completing the joint admission application and sending it to Hiram College.

Hiram College will review the joint application for admission and notify students of its admission decision, and send copies of the application materials and decision notification to CCAC.

Financial Aid

For the first 60 credits of the Dual Degree/Joint Admission Program, CCAC will process financial aid, and for the remaining 60 credits of the program, Hiram will process financial aid. In the event that the student elects to concurrently enroll in both schools during a term, CCAC will process financial aid for the first 60 credits, taking into account the student's total enrollment for the term. Hiram College will continue to process financial aid for the remaining 60 credits, taking into account the student's total enrollment for the term.

Students will be billed by CCAC for courses taken at CCAC and by Hiram College for courses taken at Hiram. Students will be responsible for the financial obligations they incur during the semesters they are enrolled at each institution.

Academic Procedures

Both institutions will advise students accepted into the joint admission program. Hiram College will develop an individual education plan for each admitted student, and CCAC will provide transfer counselors to help students maintain their four-year educational plan. Grades will be shared with academic advisors at Hiram College during the student’s enrollment at CCAC so that the student can be best advised of appropriate course work for continuing in the program. Upon transitioning to Hiram, students will be assigned an individual academic advisor who will assist them in completing their four-year educational plan.
