Prior to Commencement on May 16, graduating seniors shared their Hiram stories, showcasing how Hiram prepared them for the world after graduation.

For Annabelle, Hiram College became more than just a place to study—it became a place to lead, explore, and find her people. 

A nursing major with a biomedical humanities minor, Annabelle stayed deeply involved across campus. She served as a nursing class representative, joined the Eclectic Scholars Honors Community, and found a home in Alpha Zeta Theta, where she holds the role of secretary. Along the way, she made her mark academically as well, earning a nursing research award at Sugar Day 2025 for her poster presentation. 

One of her most memorable experiences took her across the world. During a three-week study abroad trip to Germany and Austria, Annabelle had an amazing experience and is grateful for Hiram allowing her the opportunity to study abroad with her busy school schedule. 

Still, it’s the everyday moments at Hiram that meant the most. “I love the close-knit community of students and professors,” she says. “I feel incredibly supported here.” Whether walking through campus surrounded by nature or connecting with professors, Hiram quickly became a place where she felt at home. 

That support helped shape her next step. After graduation, Annabelle will begin working at the ICU at Cleveland Clinic Hillcrest Hospital. From resume-building to interview prep, she credits her professors for helping her stand out from other nursing students and mentoring her along the way. 

Outside of academics, Annabelle’s favorite memories center around the people who made Hiram special. Time spent with her roommates and sorority sisters became the moments she’ll carry with her long after graduation. 

As she looks ahead, she knows what she’ll miss most: “Living with my roommates. I was so lucky to find such amazing people here, and I’m so grateful Hiram brought us together.”

Her advice to future Terriers is simple but meaningful: 

Take time to enjoy yourself. Doing well in your classes matters, but college is one of the last times you get to fully live in the moment before adulthood. Make memories, have fun, and don’t let it pass you by—you’ll remember the experiences, not the test scores.
