   1. Which courses are for first year students who wish to explore new areas of interest, but have no clear intent to major in this area?

      Political Science – 109; Political Science 223;  Political Science 231; and/or Political Science-205

      POLS – 109 (American government) is a required course for majors.

      POLS – 231 (International Politics) is a required course for majors.
   2. What is the desirable course work a prospective major/minor should complete by the end of their first year and the end of their second year?

      Majors: For Majors ? POL S– 109, POLS-231 and the First Year Seminar “Quest for Justice” by the end of the second year, as well as beginning Foreign Language, if s/he needs it. A foreign language is required for majors.

      Minors: For minors any of the above-mentioned POLS courses.
   3. What is the minimum a prospective major/minor must do by the end of their first and second year?

      Majors: POLS-109 and POLS-231, as well as beginning Foreign Language, and talk to a faculty member in the department of hers/his intention to major in political science, for advising.

      Minors: PS-109; PS-231; but not a foreign language.
   4. How important is it for a student with some interest in majoring in your area to make contact with a member of your department?

      It is important to contact the department no later than your second year. Numerous students usually contact the department during the first semester of the second year.
   5. What are the major pitfalls a student should avoid during their first year and how can an advisor help the student to avoid them?

      None.
