INTD 225: Humans and the Environment
   2. What is the desirable course work a prospective major/minor should complete by the end of their first year and the end of their second year?

EVST majors or minors should establish an EVST advisor (either Prof. Huehner or Prof. Sturtevant by the end of the first year.

Majors: INTD 225 and several lower level core requirements (see EVST web site).

      Minors: Same as majors
   3. What is the minimum a prospective major/minor must do by the end of their first and second year?

Majors: Finish core requirements; begin thinking about an Area of Concentration. (see EVST web site).

      Minors: Finish core requirements
   4. How important is it for a student with some interest in majoring in your area to make contact with a member of your department?

It is required that all EVST majors and minors have an EVST advisor either Marty Huehner or Joan Sturtevant, who will help with selection of a secondary advisor if appropriate. This person should be chosen and contacted as soon as possible, preferably during the first semester of Freshman year.
   5. What are the major pitfalls a student should avoid during their first year and how can an advisor help the student to avoid them?

First year students with an interest in EVST should make an appointment with either Prof. Huehner or Prof. Sturtevant to discuss their interest and to avoid scheduling errors. This is important because many EVST requirements also fulfill certain General Distribution Requirements and should be chosen to eliminate potential overloads in the future. Some courses are offered in alternate years. Always refer to the EVST web site for the most current information.
