New Art Show at Frohring

The Frohring Art Center is hosting "Fissures: New Paintings" by Matthew Kolodziej running through October 12.  Kolodziej will be available for a Gallery Talk and Reception from 5 - 8 PM on Thursday, September 22.

Kolodziej is a Visual Artist and Assistant Professor of Art at the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron.  A central theme of his work is the transitory quality of space and perception, using images of architecture and landscape to explore the presence of change.

The Frohring Art Center Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM until 4 PM.  The reception and gallery are free and open to the public.

Updates from the Theater Department

-- During the Fall Break this semester, the Theater Department will be taking a trip to Toronto.  The tour will be seeing several theatre shows while we are there, and the departtment would like to open this up to the whole campus, if anyone is interested.  A tentative cost is being set at $250, and there will be a sign up sheet on Rick Hyde's office door in Bates Hall if you're interested.  If you have any questions about the trip, please contact Professor Hyde.

-- There will be a costume sale on October 7 from 6-9 PM and October 8 from 11-4 PM in Drury Hall. Costumes and hats that are no longer needed will be for sale.  Come check out some of our great deals!

-- The Theater Department is proud to announce that fall main stage performance is going to be A Doll House by Henrik Ibsen, and will be performed October 27-29 at 7:30 each night. Tickets for students, faculty and staff are free with an ID.  Friday will be an "International Night", aimed at bringing students and staff together who have different backgrounds and come from different cultures.  There will be a discussion after the show that night and everyone is encouraged to attend!

-- The department is also taking a group of students to Toronto in the Spring 3-week, on a trip entitled Empty Spaces.  This is open to the whole campus and will fulfill a distribution requirement for fine arts. The group will be seeing different theatre performances and comparing the types of theatre spaces we see.  Any questions, please see Rick Hyde.  Cost of the trip and further information will be coming shortly.
