REMINDER: Ethics Teach-In 2005: Authority and Questioning

On September 13, Hiram faculty, staff and students are invited to
participate in this Fall's Ethics Teach-In. The Ethics Teach-in
is a series of informal, small group discussions clustered around a
broad theme. This year's theme is "Authority and Questioning." Sessions
consist of a short presentation and open discussion. Each session will
be offered twice. Students can attend whatever sessions they choose.
Grilled picnic lunch will be available (weather permitting) on the
Campus Green, 11:30-12:30, with the usual card swipe. Classes
overlapping the sessions may be adjusted -- ask your professor.

Spaghetti Dinner Friday
The Kiwanis Club of the Western Reserve will begin their monthly spaghetti dinners this Friday evening, September 16, from 5 - 7 pm. Pasta, two kinds of sauce, garlic bread, dessert, and beverages are all included in the $6cost, with children under 10 eating free.
The Kiwanis Club of the Western Reserve has a primary mission of helping children in Portage County and Northeast Ohio. The six spaghetti dinners Kiwanis hosts each year help raise funds for the various programs for children. The club meets every Tuesday for lunch in the Kennedy Center.
New Art Show at Frohring
The Frohring Art Center will host "Fissures: New Paintings" by Matthew Kolodziej beginning September 19 and running through October 12. Kolodziej will be available for a Gallery Talk and Reception from 5 - 8 PM on Thursday, September 22.
Kolodziej is a Visual Artist and Assistant Professor of Art at the Myers School of Art at the University of Akron. A central theme of his work is the transitory quality of space and perception, using images of architecture and landscape to explore the presence of change.
The Frohring Art Center Gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 AM until 4 PM. The reception and gallery are free and open to the public.
Athletics Update
The men’s soccer team, now 1-3 overall, beat Thiel 1-0 last week, then lost two close games to Fredonia State 1-0 and Mt. Union 3-2 in overtime this weekend at a tournament in Fredonia, New York. This week the Terriers play Heidelberg and Alma at the Heidelberg Tournament on September 17th and 18th.
The women’s soccer team, now 1-3-1 overall, tied Fredonia State 1-1 and beat Principia 1-0 over the weekend at a tournament in Fredonia, New York. Jessica Knight and Lauren Manfrass were named to the All-Tournament team. This week Hiram plays at Wilmington at 1pm on September 17th.
The volleyball team, now 8-1 overall, beat Baldwin-Wallace last week 3-2, then went undefeated in the Hiram invitational over the weekend against Adrian, Alma, Waynesburg, and Otterbein. The Terriers play Hope, Kalamazoo, Calvin, and Alma at the Wittenberg Tournament on September 16th and 17th.
The football team, now 0-2 overall, lost to Bluffton 31-6 over the weekend. Hiram hosts Westminster on September 17th.
The cross country teams did not compete last week.
