Hiram hosts fireworks display for Alumni Weekend

The public is invited to enjoy fireworks at Hiram College on Friday, June 17 as part of the institution’s Alumni Weekend festivities. The show is provided free of charge by Phantom Fireworks and will be offered at approximately 9 p.m. at the Hiram College football field and athletic complex.

With 1,200 locations nationwide, Phantom Fireworks is based in Youngstown, Ohio. The company has been in existence for more than 30 years and is a major supplier of fireworks performances on July 4th at sites throughout the nation. For more information on Phantom Fireworks, visit www.fireworks.com.

“We’re thrilled to be able to partner with Phantom Fireworks to make this show possible,” said Hiram College President Thomas V. Chema. “Hiram College has hosted fireworks shows for many years. We have the ideal setting for this type of family fun. We’re able to accommodate a large crowd easily and the show promises to be one of the best in Northeast Ohio this summer.”

Have you seen Ghosts?

This weekend marked the opening of the first Tyst production on campus, Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts.  After Ellen Summers gave a brief presentation to introduce Scandanavian theater to the audience, the five actors gave strong performances on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings.  A few reactions:

  • "A lot of interesting things to think about.  Very well done." -- Gwen Fischer, psychology
  • "Great job -- I'm really glad I took the time to come." -- Pam Auble, Hiram community

Members of the Hiram community are invited to see the Tyst production of Henrik Ibsen's Ghosts free of charge any night of the production.  Up to four tickets may be reserved by a member of the Hiram community (faculty, staff, student).

The tickets are being made available by the Tyst Board of Directors as a thank you for the generosity shown by the community.  Ghosts will run through June 26 in Hayden Auditorium on the Hiram College campus.  Performances are Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m.

To reserve your tickets, please call the Hiram College Special Events office at 5900.
