Lindajean Heller Western, M.A.

Vice President for Enrollment

Lindajean Heller Western joined Hiram College as the vice president for enrollment in November 2014, bringing a new enrollment management perspective to the campus. Now in her third year at Hiram, Ms. Western has updated and improved policies and procedures associated with marketing, communications, and admissions. She has also led the team that has enhanced the overall admission process, and prospective students routinely share unsolicited compliments about the positive experiences they have when visiting campus or participating in outreach events.

All of these efforts are helping the College make visible strides in enrollment. In academic year 2015, Ms. Western led the Department of Admissions to a 17 percent enrollment increase over the previous year – no small feat given the highly competitive higher education environment in northeast Ohio. Moving forward, Ms. Western hopes to build upon this success by highlighting the College’s new academic initiatives as well as the 20 new 3-year degree programs.

Prior to joining Hiram College, Ms. Western most recently served as vice president of enrollment and marketing for Western Governors University in Salt Lake City, a fully online nonprofit institution. In this position, Ms. Western led the admissions and marketing operations in growing enrollment from approximately 26,000 to 52,000 students nationwide. Throughout her career, Ms. Western has accumulated more than 34 years of leadership experience in the admissions, marketing, communications, and public information fields.

Ms. Western began her career as a public affairs officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, where she rose to the rank of Major. She also gained valuable experience working in non-profit and public health care in addition to higher education entities across the country.

Ms. Western earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from The Ohio State University and a Master of Arts degree in organizational and process management from the University of Phoenix.
