Dexter Odom joined Hiram College in December 2016 as the Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Business and Finance. As CFO, Mr. Odom leads the planning, coordination, control, and execution of the College’s operating budget. He also provides financial analysis and forecasting to support strategic planning efforts. In addition to the leadership Mr. Odom will provide in the financial area, he also supervises other key areas of the campus, including: human resources, physical plant, technology and telecommunications, auxiliary enterprises, purchasing, property management, campus bookstore, and printing/mailing services.
Prior to joining Hiram College, Mr. Odom earned more than 34 years of combined experience in educational administration, non-profit administration, auditing, child care management, business consulting, and accounting services. His most recent post was at Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas where he served as the vice president for administration and finance. In that position, he established formal budgeting procedures, negotiated the institution’s first indirect cost rate agreement, and was a reviewer for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Throughout his professional career, Mr. Odom has served as an accountant, an auditor, an entrepreneur, and an officer on various non-profit and for-profit boards.
Mr. Odom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and accounting from Valdosta State University and a Master of Business Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Accountants.
