Future Plans
- Hire additional faculty in medical humanities.
- Expand and obtain funding for bioethics internship program.
- Support scholarships for biomedical humanities majors, including funds for travel related to coursework.
- Grow funds for scholars, writers, physicians, nurses, and artists to teach on campus in our programs. (For example, the Center is exploring the possibility that the filmmaker Steve Bognar might be able to teach a 3-week course with our faculty on his recent PBS series on childhood cancer, A Lion in the House.)
- Expand the ability of our successful Summer Symposium to continue to accomplish its mission. Endow the Summer Symposium.
- Increase Web outreach of the program, developing the financial and human resources to do this. This will allow the work of the Center to expand more into the wider world and provide an interactive environment for students.
- Provide funds for our faculty to travel to share information about the program and to learn from others.
