What makes the Center distinctive?

Listening to life

Life has its own languages at the molecular level - composed of DNA and protein sequences. This information determines how cells function. Young scientists need to understand, interpret, and use this information to solve new problems and communicate their findings in a way that increases the scientific literacy of our society. The Center for Deciphering Life’s Languages aims to serve that need.

How does the Center enhance your education?

The Center for Deciphering Life’s Languages involves students (including high school students) in research projects, teaching basic scientific principles. This also fosters students’ excitement about their education and encourages research experiences beyond the classroom.

This Center has several areas of distinction:

You learn, because you’re doing it

Original research is built into undergraduate courses, including student involvement in cutting-edge genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, and microbiology.

Learning the languages

The Center for Deciphering Life’s Languages adds value to your education in numerous ways.
